My Blackberry Ginger Cocktail is a sweet, spicy, herbal, and fruity ‘martini’. A botanical gin, coupled with a spicy simple syrup and a little zing from yellow Chartreuse, you’re gonna love this one.
I grow a lot of ginger in my backyard, and they’re really pretty plants, like miniature bamboo. Unfortunately, the cold kills off the stalks, so I’ll have to wait for the spring for roots to sprout and my little bamboo forest to return.
Blackberries, fresh rosemary and ginger root make an awesome simple syrup for a gin cocktail. I prefer an herbaceous gin that’s bright, fresh and complex. My two favorite gins right now that have great botanical characteristics are The Botanist, and Hendricks either would be great in this drink. And no, I don’t work for either of them, but I am a big fan.
