Cider Rose

My Cider Rose recipe is Angry Orchard Rosé Apple Cider, Hendrick’s Gin, and St Germain Elderflower liqueur with a few fresh raspberries thrown in for good measure. Everything about this cocktail screams of the herbal, floral, and botanical flavor characteristics that make gin such a magic spirit. Actually, it’s the sort of drink you’d expect your medieval apothecary to whip up to cure what ails you.

Hendrick’s Gin has a recipe for a drink called ‘Woodstock Rose’ it’s delicious, beautiful and great for the ladies who do lunch. But it calls for apple juice since I don’t have children in the house, I never have apple juice. I do, however, regularly have apple cider. When I read the recipe for the Woodstock Rose, I was Hell-bent on making it, yet I never had the apple juice. Well, tonight I had apple cider, a fresh bottle of gin, St Germain Elderflower liqueur and fresh raspberries. So, I whipped up this Cider Rose, and lo and behold it’s magnificent.

I serve it in a tall glass with a good quantity of raspberries in it. Serve it with a spoonable to reach the berries, after being macerated in all this alcohol, they’re magnificent in their own right.

Here is how I make my version of Hendricks GinWoodstock Rose’ I call  my recipe the ‘Cider Rose’:

INGREDIENTS:

PROCESS:

-Add Gin, and elderflower liqueur to a cocktail mixer over ice, stir about 40-50 times until ice cold. Never shake gin.

-Pour into a tall glass with around 9-10 raspberries and ice

-Top off with 3 ounces of ice cold apple cider

Serve with a spoon, cheers!!!
