The Paper Plane

A relatively new cocktail on the scene, The Paper Plane is a bourbon-based cocktail created by the New York Mixologist Sam Ross, back in 2008. I had my first Paper Plane cocktail recently at a restaurant in Dallas and loved it. The fact that it came with a cute little paper airplane for me to harass the other patrons with made it even better.

A simple cocktail recipe with four ingredients in equal proportions, it’s quick, easy and gives you a reason to make little paper planes. From what I’ve read, the drink was originally made with Campari, then switched to Aperol. I’ve made it both ways, and like them both, although I think I do prefer the Aperol version, just slightly. I’m debating a 50/50 version of Aperol and Campari but haven’t tried it yet. I’ll have to try that my next go around.

Here’s the Paper Plane recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

PROCESS:

-Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice

-Shake briefly, strain into a cocktail coupe

-Garnish with some crazy paper airplane creation of your own design.

Cheers and thanks to Bartender Sam Ross for a great creation
