My White Sangria recipe is made with a sauvignon blanc, mangos, raspberries, blood oranges, and plums. Cold and refreshing, this fruity cocktail is one of my favorite summer thirst quenchers. This white Sangria has just the right amount of fizz from the Topo Chico mineral water and a nice orange kick from the Grand Marnier.
Sangria is traditionally made with red wine. The original Sangria recipes originated in Portugal and Spain. This wine-based fruit punch is made using local fruits and berries and the recipes vary from region to region and from season to season.
This white sangria recipe is beautiful and delicious!
Ingredients in White Sangria
Sangria is easy to make punch, perfect for parties. It is also an excellent way to serve less expensive wine that could use a little help. There aren’t many ingredients in Sangria, however, it does require a little preparation. Here are some of the ingredients I use in Sangria. If you have a variation of a white Sangria that you like, please let me know in the comment section below.
- Wine: A fruity red wine is traditional in making Sangria. However, I love to use whites, roses, and sparkling wines as well.
- Brandy: Brandy is often used to increase the alcohol content of the Sangria. I like Grand Marnier, a sweetened Cognac brandy distilled with bitter oranges.
- Fruit and Berries: Oranges and lemons are a must in my white sangria recipe. I used blood oranges because they have a hint of raspberry to them, however, any orange will work. Fresh, in-season fruits and/or berries are an excellent addition to the Sangria. Raspberries and mangos are particularly good in a White Sangria with Grand Marnier.
- Sparkling Water: I use Topo Chico sparkling mineral water to top off my Sangria recipe. It’s the closest locally sourced sparkling water to me.
- Sweetener: This is optional. Depending on how sweet your wine is, you may not want any additional sweetener. However, agave nectar is good as well as just a plain simple syrup.
